Gjelina Take Away

gjelina take away

Seeing as Gjelina is one of my favorite restaurants ever, I’ve been dying to test out their next-door venture, GTA (aka Gjelina Take Away) ever since it opened a few weeks ago.  So after some much-needed retail therapy with mumsie and after saying goodbye to one of my best friends before she moves away to North Carolina for school (will missss you Sarita), boyfriend took me over to GTA for lunch.

Oh. my. goodness.  If you live within a 50 mile radius (I take that back, a 100 mile radius!) of Venice Beach, GO TO THERE.  I just had a simple turkey sandwich and a tomato salad but it was best turkey sandwich and the most delicious tomato salad ever.  It’s so amazing what fresh, homemade ingredients will manifest into.  Of course, by homemade, I mean GTA makes everything on property, from the bread to the pickled cucumbers on my sandwich.

So thank you GTA for making my Sunday afternoon a real treat.  Oh that, and the fact that I was wearing a flowy maxi dress (from Anthropologie).  That was a real treat too.

Friday Love List

Here are just a few things I’m loving lately:

Pouring this blueberry syrup (via designlovefest) in and on everything, especially tea and ice cream.

Having 2 reunions in one weekend: the first, with these guys;
the second, with Danielle, (used to work together and I miss those days) who ALWAYS makes me laugh so hard & forces me to revisit the deepest recesses of my memory by playing music like “What Would You Do” by City High.

9to5Chic blog – that girl knows how to work an outfit, literally.  So chic & effortless.

Searching for the perfect vintage electric fan on Etsy.

These adorable picnic printables on Eat Drink Chic.  Now I want to have a picnic immediately if not sooner.

Kinfolk Magazine – so eclectic and visually inspiring.

The fact that I have a planned hula-hoop contest today.  Winner TBD.

Dear Mustard (the color only), I like you

If you didn’t know this already, I have a very strong aversion to mustard (the condiment) but am head-over-heels in love with mustard (the color).  Two very different mustards we’re talking about here, you guys.  One is slabbed on hot dogs, the other a beautiful creamy yellow that looks just as amazing in a chiffon as it does in a cotton.  No disrespect to mustard (the condiment) or anything, I would just prefer his much more handsome twin, mustard (the color).

The reason I love this color so much is that it works equally as well paired with summery dresses and shorts as it does with a fall wardrobe.  It’s pretty but slightly masculine, and best of all, looks amazing with a leopard-print belt.  Did you know I plan all of my wardrobe items around my leopard-print belt?

Here are some of my favorite mustardy items:
j.crew sweater | zara clutch | topshop loafers | butter london nail polish | illestevia sunglasses | modcloth skirt | topshop dress

a total hodge podge: fashion wishlist

Sure, none of these items really make a cohesive outfit per say, but they sure are awesome individual pieces that I’m lusting after.  that I kind of all want.  that I can no longer buy since I just spent all my money on a new desk and a trip to Portland.  that would be such great additions to my closet anyways.  that would look great on my trip to Portland? or just as equally great while I sit at my new desk?  K cool, these are now mine.

Oh but aren’t they fun!  From that festive Madewell necklace to those navy blue sandals from TENOVERSIX to that Romwe kelly green maxi skirt, all of these pieces are really doing it for me.  Pulling on my heart strings.  Achin’ my breaky heart.  Luckily for moi, it’s almost my half-birthday so that’s a perfect excuse to buy myself a present (or 9).

  1. Madewell necklace
  2. Steven Alan shorts
  3. Modcloth dress
  4. Anthropologie bralette
  5. Rodebler sandals via TENOVERSIX
  6. Romwe maxi skirt
  7. Ruche striped top
  8. Virginia Johnson bag
  9. Warby Parker sunglasses

Carmageddon

renegrade craft fair

You may or may not be familiar with the term “Carmageddon.”
It refers to this weekend’s closure of the 405 freeway in Los Angeles and let me tell you, people are in a straight-up frenzy.
Since I live on the westside of LA, I’ll be majorly effected by said Carmageddon and have been advised by many not to leave my apartment this entire weekend.

But, I say to the naysayers, Renegade Craft Fair is this weekend in downtown!
There is no way I’m missing that!  Freeway closure or not, I will get there.

So while most people will do the sane and rational thing of avoiding the roads at all possible,
I will be trekking it downtown (taking the surface streets!) for a craft fair.
Yes, Renegade is that good.

But, of course, as soon as I’ve got my fill of crafting,
I will stay away from the roads and spend my weekend on Pinterest!
Here are some of my favorite pins as of late:
