On Repeat…

For the last couple days, I’ve been feeling really crappy.  So crappy, in fact, that I’ve been forced to stay at home and do nothing all day.  It’s safe to say that I’m all caught up on every season of Real Housewives of New York (what an accomplishment) and have read the entire contents of my Google Reader (I had 1000+ unread posts last week).  When I wasn’t napping or watching hours of TV, here are the things that have kept me occupied and/or I’ve obsessed over during my sick days:

  1. I baked 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies (Nestle Toll House recipe) and I’ve been eating them nonstop for the past 4 days.
  2. Since my birthday was 3 months ago, I thought that NOW was a good time to send out some “thank you” cards (I’m such a slacker/horrible person).  I’ve been searching high and low for some unique “thank you’s” and I’m particularly fond of these Rifle Paper Co. cards.  They’re so colorful and cheery!
  3. Since my current pair of eyeglasses are almost out of commission, I’ve been searching for a new pair that’s equally functional and hip, like these Warby Parker Sinclair Eyeglasses.
  4. It’s been a daily struggle trying to figure out which colors of the Anthropologie Latte Bowls I want to get for my new kitchen.  I feel like the colors I choose will determine my entire color scheme.  Such decisions…
  5. I’ve been obsessing over the chevron pattern for months now and this Jonathan Adler Zig Zag Throw is perfection.
  6. Now that it’s springtime, my online shopping focus has shifted toward fun, colorful day dresses, like this Need Supply Co. Striped Dress.
  7. One of my favorite things to do is scroll through Pinterest and find unique jewelry, like this Anica Bangle Set.
  8. I’ve got baby showers on my mind!  One of my very good friends is preggers right now and I can’t stop thinking about all the fun things I want to get for her shower, like these Shop Sweet Lulu Stripey Straws for instance.

planet blue lookbook

I may or may not have decided to purchase my Coachella tickets the day AFTER it sold out completely.  What the hell, Coachella?  So needless today, I’m not going and instead will cry myself to sleep every night from April 15 to 17 AND drool over this Planet Blue lookbook that highlights the trek out to the desert.

The lookbook is equal parts whimsy and hippy with lots of chunky jewelry, cropped tops, and floral-printed everything.  Exactly what you need to spend 3 days at a music festival.  Peruse through the rest of Planet Blue’s lookbook here!

Something Orange

Kate Spade essex small scout

I love the idea of pairing a super simple outfit, like a striped shirt and flared jeans, with an unexpected twist, like a bright orange handbag.  A little pop of color can completely change an outfit’s level of excitement.  And let me tell you, an orange Kate Spade cross-body = lots o’ excitement.

Besides it’s bright/exciting factor, this Kate Spade also has a classic shape and style.  You know what that means?  I’m putting it in my shopping cart.  The rule is: you’re allowed to buy any and all items that are considered classic and timeless with a unique twist.  Right?  Or am I making that rule up to make myself feel better?  Whoopsies.

  1. Nasty Gal Twisted Trench Coat
  2. APC Striped Cotton-Jersey T-shirt (via Net-a-Porter)
  3. Kate Spade Essex Small Scout cross-body handbag
  4. GAP Wide Leg Trouser Jeans (just purchased these online!)
  5. J.Crew Double-Row Mini-Link Necklace
  6. Topshop Oceania Camel Buckle Cuff Mid Wedges

Color Blocked

[j.crew silk blouse, zara skirt, madewell wedges, rayban sunglasses, michael kors watch]

To answer your question: YES, this is the first time my legs have seen the sunlight since last summer.  Those babies are white!  To answer your 2nd question: YES, I’m wearing wedges on a hiking trail.

On Friday, Kyle and I both had the day off from work so we decided to go on a few adventures.  Said adventures include but are not limited to: driving into the boondocks and coming across a giant movie set, complete with fake building facades; eating delicious Mexican food as per usual; and finding a beautiful hiking trail while wearing the trifecta of non-hiking gear, i.e. silk, skirt, wedges.

But look!  I’m attempting to color block and that’s what matters.  Green shirt + bright blue skirt.  Do I get any Spring/Summer 2011 points?  I probably should’ve thrown another bright color into the mix, like orange or red, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.  I’ve got the whole spring season to practice that!
