Spring Cravings

march wish list

With springtime fast approaching, I feel myself starting to crave color and wild patterns (and canning cookbooks?).  Long, flowy skirts, perfectly polished olive green nails, geometric bangles – all of these items reflect the changing seasons and I’m LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

As you can see, I’m lusting after lots of tans, various shades of green and blue, yellow, gold, and hints of pink.  And who doesn’t love a chevron print in the form of a bathroom accessory?  Sign me up for that, please.  Instead of spring cleaning, I want to do the exact opposite and accumulate MORE things, namely these 10 items on my March wish list:

  1. Zara Long Skirt
  2. Madewell Brightside Bangle
  3. Canning For A New Generation cookbook
  4. Urban Outfitters Little Birch Jewelry Stand
  5. West Elm Graphic Porcelain Tumblers
  6. Clarks Botanicals Ultra Rich Lip Tint
  7. Scotch Naturals Nail Polish in Ceasefire
  8. Rennes Le Chateau Wallet Pouch
  9. Twoems Patterned Peacock Print (sold out…brb crying)
  10. MTWTFSS Weekday Endless Knit Sweater Beige

Gold Fingers

Firstly, I want to apologize for you having to stare at my weirdo face the whole week (from my last post).  That must have been TMI.  But lucky for all of us, I’ve replaced it with an oversized photo of my right hand.  Why?  Because I have a strange-looking thumb.  No, but seriously, I actually want to discuss my obsession with thin gold rings.  If I could wear one on every finger, I would.

Here are my favorites that I wear on a daily basis:

  • Index finger: I found this gold band at the Renegade Craft Fair for $6.  What. A. Steal.
  • Middle finger: This one is my mumsies’ and I absolutely love the stone in the middle.  It’s technically not a thin ring so I’m cheating a bit.
  • Ring Finger: This heart ring from catbird is my absolute favorite and I never take it off (it’s from my man friend).

PS- my nail polish is Essie chinchilly.  Essie can do no wrong.  But enough about my hands.  I wish these were my hands:

Ever since I saw this photo, I’ve wanted to have my own collection of staple gold rings.  There’s something very elegant in it’s simplicity.  I can’t tell if it’s because she moisturizes really well or if her thin gold bands border on perfection?  And that Dior Oui ring?  I’ve been eBay searching that thing for years now and have never been able to find it.  It is the ultimate gold band.  Until I do find it, here are some other thin rings currently tickling my fancy:

thin gold rings

  1. Knotted Rush Ring, Bario-Neal, $154
  2. Very thin gold ring, Rare Device, $96
  3. Senna Round Ring, Bario-Neal
  4. Libra gold ring, Elephantine Etsy, $25
  5. Jennifer Meyer Thin Stackable Ring, Shopbop, $125

Attempting Geek Chic

Yesterday, I borrowed my friend’s Nikon dslr.  What a treat!  I use the term “borrowed” very loosely because I still have it and don’t plan on returning it anytime soon.  Kidding (kind of).  So what was the first thing I decided to do with it?  Take photos of m’self obviously.  Cue: ego inflation.

Just kidding, I mostly took photos of my dog but since this is not a dog blog, I’ll stick with some outfit shots.  I’m really into collared shirts and feel extra sophisticated when they’re buttoned all the way to the top.  If you didn’t know any better, you’d think I was on my way to calculus class or a very important business meeting.  But no!  That’s the power of a collared shirt, my friend.

Next time I plan on adding thick-rimmed glasses, a pleated skirt, and argyle socks.  Then my geek chic look would be totally complete.

Need Immediately: Red Pants

red pants outfit

I’m usually not a colorful person.  I stick to neutrals like you wouldn’t believe.  But all of sudden, I’m craving red pants.  What’s the deal here?  It might be because the color red has been popping up repeatedly all over New York Fashion Week.  Or maybe because it was just Valentine’s Day and heart motifs are aplenty.  Was it quite possibly the red velvet bundt cake I tested the other day that sent me into a world of chocolately red dye bliss???

I NEED RED PANTS!  I swear, red pairs well with every color on the planet: navy, olive green, camel, cream, orange, leopard (yes, leopard is a color), royal blue.  I could probably go through the entire color spectrum but instead, I want to show you an outfit that I wish I was currently wearing.

Of course, I would start with these Zara red cropped pants.  Then I would add a touch of silk with a J.Crew navy blouse (lusted after here in olive just days ago).  Red + navy = get used to it my friends because you will be seeing LOTS of it in the coming months!  Over the silk blouse, I would wear this slouchy Topshop sweater.  Extra geek chic points for the blouse collar peeking out of the sweater neckline.  And then I would add a chunky gold Madewell necklace for pizazz, bright red Topshop lipstick for even MORE pizazz, and a Madewell satchel because it’s probably the cutest thing ever.

On Repeat

In the month of January, I was living in, living on, and obsessing constantly over the following:

  1. I wore this gold Dogeared necklace nearly every single day.  I never tire of a tiny charm.
  2. I love a good red nail and this Essie polish in limited addiction kept my hands company quite often in the last month.
  3. I (virtually) flipped through Rue Magazine’s Issue 3 at least a dozen times, if not more.  It’s packed full of inspiring visuals and amazing decor ideas.
  4. I placed this J.Crew silk blouse in my online shopping cart more times than I can count.  I can’t decide if I need it (read: I OBVIOUSLY NEED IT) so I will continue putting it in my cart until I make the decision.
  5. I drank green tea 2-3 times a day, though I wish it were in a cute Anthropologie mug.
  6. I listened to the new Cold War Kids album literally on repeat.  One of my favorite songs is Mine is Yours.
  7. This Clinique Almost Lipstick was my go-to color of choice for whenever I ventured out of the house.
