Oh, hiiiiii 2012.

You guys!  I’ve missed you so much.  I only wanted to take a short break between Christmas and New Year’s, but then my blog almost died and that forced me to take an even longer break than expected.  I switched to a new server and in that time, we had some issues uploading all of my content to it’s new home.  There was a minute where Kyle said to me “Ok I hope everything is still there.”  But luckily that kid is pretty smart and figured it out.  So 2012 started with a slight heart attack for me.  But now it’s all good!

I hope you had a restful holiday season.  Mine was spent back home with my family and friends.  I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!!!  Lots of shopping, lots of relaxing, lots of melting in 85 degree weather.  I appreciate a good 85 degree day in July but not in December – it just gets awkward.  Besides the perpetual sweating, my time off was kind of amazing.  Here are just a few of the things I did over the the holidays:

Lots of activities including but not limited to: knitting, playing with my new tablet (!!!), and partaking in lots of burrito times…

Hanging out with these crazies as much as possible (gosh, I love them)…

Getting to see these cute people

And wearing lots of bold colors (unusual for me, let me tell you)…

*As for 2012 resolutions?  I’ll start with a few of these things happy people do.  Then, I want to work harder, never take anything for granted, spend even MORE time with all of my favorite people, and maybe actually possibly start writing a book (which was one of my goals for 2011…didn’t happen).  We shall see what 2012 will bring us, but here’s hoping it’s nothing but beautiful and amazing things.

Slacker

Lately, I’ve been totally slacking around, wearing oversized sweaters, drinking lots of hot drinks, and neglecting my blog.  Poor thing gets no love lately.  But hey!  There is an upside.  My blog is getting redecorated real soon!  Revamped.  Redesigned.  Can’t wait.

But in the meantime, I don’t really have a new post.  So you can hang out with me on Pinterest (cuz I’ve been pinning lots), or on Twitter (cuz I tweet sometimes), or on Instagram (thestyleeater).  Hope everyone is having a relaxing holiday week!

Going back home

fall leaves

Reasons why I love going home for the holidays:

  1. Rich fall colors everywhere.  Hey West Los Angeles, why don’t you grow a few trees?
  2. Mumsie’s sweet potatoes (pictured below – the ones covered in a thick layer of marshmallows).
  3. Inevitable photo shoots with my favorite people/bloggers, Ann-Marie Loves Paper and JayAdores (pictured below).
  4. Animated and lively conversations with my best friends.  Half of them don’t even live in California anymore but whenever we’re all home, it’s as if nothing has changed.  I love them.
  5. Kyle has lots of free time so he builds things like bookshelves (pictured below).  More on that later!
  6. Spending lots and lots of time with family.  Activities include but are not limited to: eating Thanksgiving 1, Thanksgiving 2, and Thanksgiving 3; shopping Black Friday; knitting circles; watching old movies; etc.
  7. Reuniting with my favorite people and watching our favorite cheesy vampire movies, one of which may be in theaters right now and rhyme with Reaking Vawn.
  8. Hanging out with my best friend’s 5 1/2 month old baby.  He’s the cutest ever.
  9. Eating pretty much everything in sight.  I need another layer of fat for the winter (my apartment is freezing) so eating until my face hurts is a good thing.  At least that’s what I’m telling myself…

Hope everyone had a lovely holiday weekend!

I am SOOO excited to eat pumpkin pie, I can’t even tell you!!  Well, I just did tell you so that doesn’t make much sense.  But me+pumpkin pie=lovers.  With whipped cream.  Lots of whipped cream.  Oh and also mashed potatoes.  Not on my pumpkin pie, but during dinner time, before the pie.  Yum, yum.  And my mum’s sweet potatoes.  Pretty much to die for.

Wishing you a lovely Thanksgiving!  Fill your bellies with food and your hearts with love.  Be back on Monday! xo
