A MORNING BY THE SEA

Spontaneous adventures on the weekends are my bread and butter. Give me a full day of excitement and I’ll be good to go, bonus points if it’s totally random and unplanned. I just need some sort of activity on the weekend, whether it be going out to a simple brunch/lunch or a day trip to somewhere outside of LA. Poor Kyle, he just wants to work, study, and watch soccer games all weekend and I force him to take me out. SORRY I’M NOT SORRY. During the week though? Please let me stay home and do nothing all day long, which of course I can’t do because of work. Such is life?

On Saturday morning, Kyle asked if I wanted to brunch with his family at Paradise Cove in Malibu and duhhh yeah. Brunch on the beach? YES. That’s exactly the kind of spontaneous weekend adventure I need. After brunch, we walked around the private coves, stayed clear of the freezing water, and soaked up that summer sun. My favorite.

ON WORKING OUT

By the look on my face, one would assume that I despise working out. One would be correct in that assumption. But I will say this: I do enjoy a good hike when all is said and done. You might be shocked by this but LA has some of the best hiking around. On the weekends, we like to try different trails and I undoubtedly complain about the dirt and I trip over a few rocks here and there, oh but the beauty around me! This day was particularly foggy but on a clear day, you can see from downtown to the ocean and vice versa.

So if I’m going to work out, which is a rarity in itself, it’ll be on the trails, hiking the hills around this city of mine. All I need is a puppy. SOMEBODY GIVE THIS GIRL A PUPPY.

JUST A COUPLE OF GALS WATCHING THE SUNSET

What’s the point of a beautiful sunset on the Manhattan Beach pier without a couple of dslrs and a few iphones? No point, I tell you. That’s what happens when Jaymee, Ann-Marie, and I get together. All bets are off. Cameras are out. Documenting begins. Gramming happens. But that’s what I love about these girls. I’ve known them FOREVER and they’re MA PEEPS. But beyond that, we’re always on the same page: cameras out at all times. We GET each other. We pose for each other. WE LOVE EACH OTHER.

^^Plus, a pre-sunset dinner at Lemonade will always hit the spot. Lemonade, why do you have to be so good all the time. Gimme those kimchi noodles every single day of my life.

^^This is Ann-Marie and she’s the best. One of my favorite people on this here earth.

^^This is Jaymee and she’s ALSO the best. Another favorite, I tell ya. Gosh, I’m so lucky to have them in my life.

^^See? Doesn’t get better than that.

^^All of Ann-Marie’s dreams came true when she saw the aqua-colored railings on the pier. That girl lives and breathes bright colors.

^^Oh hiiiiiii.

^^Jaymee makes sure to get those perfect sun flares and don’t even ask what I’m doing.

THESE DAYS

After a brief hiatus (hey work and Scandal, stop taking over my life!), I’m back with another installment of THESE DAYS…aka what in the world I’ve been up to lately…aka vague photos from my camera and iphone that SORT OF give an indication of what’s been going on. For example, what’s not pictured is 22 dvds of Scandal that are strewn about my living room as I rampaged through the entirety of season 2. But here’s what is pictured and what’s been occupying my time as of late:

^^Taking care of my plant children. Seriously, I take progress pictures of the newly sprouted leaves and send them to my mom.

^^Spending time with friends who make me laugh THIS HARD and do real life *thumbs up* emojis. More photos from this adventure coming soon.

^^Wearing Scratch watermelon nail wraps and then discussing their amazingness on the InStyle tumblr, which was tweeted by InStyle, and then grammed by Catbird! *shameless plug*

^^Getting deep into the cheese board game. If I could do a cheese board for every meal, I would. Also marcona almonds are a real game changer.

^^Still can’t decide where to hang this beauty in my house, so for now it hangs (literally) on my bedroom door.

^^In my last THESE DAYS post, I mentioned that I was wearing chucks and ankle booties. Now, it’s all about Madewell sandals and hi-top chucks. Also, freshly bought Converse are THE WORST. Must get them dirty.

^^Spending the hottest of hot summer days in my parents’ backyard. Hot days are the best kind of days.

^^Picnicking at Grand Park across from City Hall in downtown is my new favorite pastime. We even watched the fireworks here on July 4th!

^^Save-the-Date’s in the mail from Ann-Marie! She is so talented, that one.

^^Sunday nights at the Hollywood Bowl are the most magical. The sun sets just right and the colors from the stage look extra vibrant. We enjoyed a bottle of bubbly, bread and cheese, and hummus and veggies. All the food groups.

GIVE ME ALL THE 100 DEGREE DAYS

Confession: I kind of like when it’s unnecessarily hot outside. Oh no, not the muggy kind of heat, hell no. But the dry heat when the wind feels like a heater on your face…that I can deal with. I grew up in the valley, which, if you know anything about the valley, it’s that it’s hot as heck on a regular basis, so I guess you could say I’m used to it. Or more like: I can deal with it. So bring it on. Bring on the all the 100 degree days, summer.

Also, I’ve been preoccupied lately, which has kept me away from blogging on the regular, but I was promoted at my job, so that’s a good excuse right? This blog post is filled with long, comma-filled, run-on sentences and I apologize for that. But sometimes a girl’s gotta have a few awkward sentences to get her point across on a Monday. But yes! I was promoted and now I’m real fancy! Just kidding on the fancy part, but I’m pretty excited about it. Also, I’ve been marathoning the TV show, SCANDAL, and oh my goodness, I am HOOKED. I watch like 5 episodes at a time. SO GOOD. So let’s be honest, that’s really the reason I haven’t been blogging. Whoops. More posts this week!
