I love a good brunch. Give me 75 degree weather on a Sunday and a solid brunch menu and I’m satisfied. …which is probably why I love Plums Café in Costa Mesa so much.
Plums Café is a rare gem. Of course, I can’t take credit for discovering this gem! My good friend, Ladi, took me here awhile ago and ever since then, I crave it every time I’m in Orange County. So thank you Lads for introducing Plums to me!
The brunch menu at Plums Café is an eclectic twist on the classics: Raspberry pancakes, Santa Fe Eggs Benedict, Coconut French Toast, Shirred Eggs. The ingredients are fresh, flavorful, and inspired by the Northwest. Oregon Trail (2 buttermilk pancakes, 2 eggs, apple maple sausage) anyone??
Last weekend, I had brunch at Plums Café and it was as satisfying as ever! I had the Northwest Berry Waffle and the most refreshing ginger peach iced tea. Kyle had a bloody mary (of course) and the Spinach and Feta Cheese Omelet.

As for my waffle, I had never seen berries so fresh in the middle of February. Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries covered every inch of it – so sweet and succulent too! Don’t even get me started on the whipped cream. This ain’t no Cool Whip, let me tell you. I’m talkin’ heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and a touch of vanilla extract whipped to absolute perfection.
As for Kyle’s omelet, it was a savory mixture of sweet baby tomatoes, salty kalamata olives, spinach, and a hefty layer of feta cheese. Next to the omelet? Rosemary potatoes. Yes, I had quite a few bites. So flavorful and delicious!
And just to answer your question: Yes, I did eat every bite. I don’t mess around when it comes to waffles.
