When Best Friends Get Married, Part 2

November 26, 2012

As I mentioned in this post, I recently spent a weekend in Santa Barbara celebrating one of my best friends’ weddings.  It was probably one of my favorite weekends in the history of weekends.  Good friends, beautiful views, happy occasions – what more could you want?

There were a ton of festivities lined up prior to the actual wedding and each one was so amazingly fun.  We started with the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday, then the (heart-shaped) pancake breakfast, bridal lunch, and bachelorette party on Saturday, and then the wedding on Sunday.  Back-to-back goodness, I tell ya.

Here are a few snapshots from the weekend extravaganza:

When Best Friends Get Married

The last few days have been a total whirlwind.  One of my very best friends, Jaymee, got married in Santa Barbara and we had a weekend full of festivities.  And her wedding?  Absolutely breathtaking!  I can’t wait to share photos but I’m going to wait until the little lady and her new hubby get back from their honeymoon.  Here are a few highlights:

+ Jaymee branded her whole wedding with an awesome logo and a cohesive design, from the napkins to the treat bags to the pencils for the newspaper (yes, I said newspaper – it was amazing!).

+ She and her family DIYed every single detail, even the light bulbs hanging in the reception barn (more on that later).

+ Exploring Santa Barbara with the bridal party on our many wedding-related events (bachelorette party, bridal lunch, rehearsal din, mani/pedis, blow outs).  Love those girls so much!

+ The wedding venue, Rancho Dos Pueblos.  I’ve never seen anything more gorgeous.

+ Getting to see all my good friends in one place, at one time.  Such a rarity!

+ Witnessing my best friend get married to the love of her life.  So incredibly happy for them!

Brainstorming

My friend, Ann-Marie, and I are always on the same page.  She might be more into stamping things and I might be more into eating things, but we meet somewhere in the middle.  We can talk for hours on end about blogs, creative people, instagram, and our shared love for good pens.

Whenever I need a creative boost, I turn to her for a little inspiration.  She’s full of incredible ideas, that one!  On our blog date, we sussed out new content for our sites and gave each other lots of feedback.

Also!  Ann-Marie relaunched her online shop and it’s full of AMAZING stamps (and those pencils above!) that are perfect for the holiday season.  Check it out here: Ann-Marie Loves Paper

Co-hosting a bridal shower

This weekend, I co-hosted a bridal shower for one of my very best friends, Jaymee.  Together with my friends Heather, Kim, and Taylor, we tried to create a really special evening for Jaymee, filled with lots of little details that we knew she’d appreciate and love.  And boy did she love it!  The night was so amazing and we couldn’t have done it without lots of help from our mothers (thanks moms!!) and our friends (shout out to Ann-Marie and Diane!).

Each of the co-hosts had their own tasks leading up to the party:  Heather did major DIY (cutting and sewing all the garland as seen below!) and the desserts; Kim did decor, DIY, and rentals; Taylor did flowers, all of the design elements, and the small details; and I did the food.  I am in such awe of these girls!  They created a truly beautiful setting for the shower and it was so fun planning with them.

I’m really sad because I didn’t get many photos of the food, but after 2 days in the kitchen, I think I might start a catering business.  SO. FUN.  I’ll come back in another post later this week and talk about the food in greater detail.

Huge thanks to Ann-Marie for letting me use a ton of her photos!
