This Saturday, I taught a little knitting class with my good friend Michelle.  Who, me?  A knitting class?  Teaching?  IT HAPPENED.

We met some really awesome ladies, drank delicious wine, and knit our faces off.  What more could you ask for in a Saturday afternoon?  We even created a little knitting group called “The Stitchuation” and I see only good/amazing things for our knitting future.

*Thanks Michelle for the photos!

STYLE RECIPES: Festive Plaids

J. Crew shirt, J. Crew jeans, Madewell boots, Gap parka (I have last year’s version)

As soon as December rolls around, you better believe I’m taking out my trusty holiday plaids.  I’m not very good at putting up festive decorations in my apartment or listening to Christmas music (Kyle is a grinch), but you can guarantee I’ll be wearing my plaids every other day.

Not going to lie, I usually pair my festive plaids with more exciting things, like leather (faux) skirts or under 5 layers of sweaters, but there was a slight drizzle this weekend and there was no way I was leaving the house without my parka.

If I could, I would wear this parka every day.  It’s my favorite thing ever.  A parka and a plaid, what more do I need out of life?

three: madewell chelsea boots
four: clare vivier monogramed clutch (or here)
five: shop terrain salt cellar
six: everlane cashmere hat
seven: fujifilm instax
eight: “food in jars” cookbook
nine: pendleton wool blanket

1/ a few of my favorite books on this bookshelf
2/ new anthro cups on my kitchen shelves
3/ chalkboard decal that always has a grocery list on it
4/ coffee table (need to share the DIY for it still!) with my favorite holiday candle
5/ next to the staircase, my plant soaking up some sun
6/ a small section of the gallery wall
7/ my stack of InStyle magazines next to the TV
8/ a cozy seat in the living room
9/ magazine rack next to the couch

I’ve lived in my current apartment for almost 2 years now (so crazy) and I haven’t really shared much of it on the blog.  I just feel like it’s always evolving and has never been ready for a full-on dedicated post.  But eh, we’re thinking about moving again so I thought I’d better take some photos of the place before we jump ship.

Speaking of jumping ship, I’ve officially deemed “apartment hunting in Santa Monica” as the most difficult task I have ever tried to complete.  You think you’ve found the perfect place and then BAM it has no parking.  Or it has no stove.  Or it has no doors.  Something weird like that.  Really, landlords of Santa Monica?  Get it together.

Speaking of getting it together, this weekend was so unproductive and I loved every second of it.  Lazy weekends are the best. I did go to UNIQUE LA on Sunday, which was amazing by the way.  But other than that, I spent a lot of time on the couch, catching up on shows, knitting, reading, writing – lots of happy things.  Unproductivity is the best, am I right?

CSA

Let’s talk CSA.  Are you a member?  All I know is that every other Tuesday, when I wake up in the morning, it’s like Christmas.  There’s a box on my doorstep filled with a plethora of mystery goodies and I’m giddy like a 15-year-old girl at a Justin Bieber concert.  Actually not gonna lie, I would be giddy at a Biebs concert.  WHO WOULDN’T?  So it’s Tuesday morning and here’s what I’m thinking: What will be inside the box this time?  What recipes will I make with it?  How many items can I properly identify?  Kyle, will you go outside and get the box this time because my feet are cold?

It’s all so exciting!  I love my CSA program because they deliver it to me in the middle of the night.  I don’t have to go to anywhere to pick it up.  Some may call that lazy, others may call it genius.  Either way, I’m getting a box o’ veggies & fruit every other week and it’s changing my life.  Here’s why:

+ The veggies/fruit are all organic and from local farms.

+ The produce is always seasonal.  Right now, I’m getting lots of squash, apples, and greens.

+ It’s fairly cheap.  I pay $25 for a small mixed box (that includes delivery) and it comes every other week.  I easily spend that much on produce every week so ehhh not too bad?

+ It’s a LOT of stuff for 2 people.  We pretty much gorge ourselves (Kyle and I) on healthy foods for the week that we get it.  We’re talking veggie-centric meals every night and then a fruit cobbler for dessert.  On the weeks we don’t get the box, I’m not going to tell you the crap we eat but it may rhyme with braft lacaroni & schmeese.

+ It really pushes me to try new foods and new recipes, which I love!  For example, there is an acorn squash in the box I got this week and I can’t wait to make this with it.

My CSA program is called Farm Fresh to You and I have nothing but praise for them.  If you’re in the LA or Southern California area, I would highly recommend.  DO IT.

BRB, going to eat 5 pears.
