This is my Harry Styles outfit. When I told Kyle this, he said “Who is Harry Styles?” WHAT IN THE HECK. Who is this person I’m living with and marrying? (Kyle, not Harry)

I’d like to think Harry would wear this outfit around London on his day off, give or take a leather jacket. He probably wouldn’t be hanging out in a dirty alley though, so that’s where we differ. Such is life.

Anyway, I’d wear an oversized sweater + black jeans combo every day if I could (sometimes I gotta do laundry though). I find a seasonal look and I stick to it (see summer look here), and this year I’m almost exclusively reaching for bulky sweaters, skinny jeans, and ankle boots (shocker of the century, I know). I’ll throw a hat into the mix when my hair is looking funky, which is happening a lot lately. If I sleep on my hair weird, it’s game over. Harry knows a thing or two about funky hair, I should really take notes.

DECEMBER! I’m so happy that it’s finally cooling down in LA and that bulky sweaters are now appropriate for everyday use. Yayyyyy!!! More later…

FOR SURE DOING CYBER MONDAY

cyber monday

Madewell Transport Tote, Piperlime Clare V. Clutch, Need Supply Baggu Pouch
J.Crew Texture Sweater, J. Crew Cable Sweater
Need Supply ABJ Glassworks Terrarium, Urban Outfitters Woven Leather Rug, West Elm Wood + Brass Box
Asos Timex Watch, Need Supply Plaid Scarf, Madewell Biltmore Floppy Fedora

I’ve never been one to indulge in the Black Fridays and Cyber Mondays of the world, but this year really pulled me in, hook line and sinker (is that the term? I really don’t understand fishing). Like holy crap, there are some good deals y’all. I did some research and found all the Cyber Monday sales that I’ll be partaking in today, both for gifts and a little for myself, let’s be real. I’ve rounded them up here so let’s get crazy:

MADEWELL // 25% off purchase with code GIFTON
There are way too many things in my Madewell cart as per usual, but the Transport tote would make such a great gift (especially monogrammed!) so that’s a must purchase. Also, a floppy fedora for myself.

PIPERLIME // 30% off sitewide with code CYBERSALE
Clare V. on sale! This almost never happens so you better believe I’m taking advantage of it.

NEED SUPPLY // 20% off sitewide with code CYBER20
I could easily buy all my holiday gifts here this year, but I’m especially loving the Baggu pouches, selection of ABJ Glassworks (remember this ring pyramid?), and festive scarves.

J. CREW // 30% off select full-price with code HOLIDAY
The sweater selection at J. Crew never disappoints and I always find myself drifting toward the super textured, chunky, and cable varieties. So wintery!

URBAN OUTFITTERS // $15 off $75, $25 off $100, and $50 off $150
The home section at Urban has gotten so good lately and I want one of these rugs (or these!) in every room.

WEST ELM // 20% off Decorative Boxes
Jewelry boxes make the best gifts and West Elm’s are especially gorgeous.

ASOS // 30% off with code ILOVEMONDAYS
I love the look of an oversized watch and this Timex is calling my name. Also, 30% off at ASOS is DEF calling my name.

Also, puppies who indulge in a little Cyber Monday action is A-OK by me. I snapchatted this last night of my favorite sibling, Jax, who takes after his sister (me) in the online shopping addiction.

HAIR CUTS, WISDOM TEETH, AND TURKEY

hair cut

If I were to describe the past 2.5 weeks of my life, it would be the title of this post. I decided to snip off about 5 inches of hair (I WANT IT ALL GONE, I said to my hair stylist quite emphatically). You can’t tell as much in this photo but it’s above my shoulders (see here). I feel like ME for the first time in a long time.

Wisdom teeth. Yes, I spent a drug-fueled (sorry not sorry) weekend recovering from getting my wisdom teeth pulled out. I’m still struggling a bit with it but definitely on the mend. Oh but you should’ve seen the chipmunk-cheeked snapchats I was sending out.

TURKEY. Favorite holiday is coming up. I love eating, bottom line. I also love my family. This year, we’re keeping the menu straightforward and classic, but cutting out all bread products for my mom and aunt who are currently Gluten Free (I’m still eating all the pumpkin pie though). Will report back after.

A few other things on my radar:

Vince cardigan
James Jeans (most comfortable jeans on this planet)

ESSENTIALS: EVERYDAY MAKEUP

makeup essentials / the style eater

For as many beauty products as I hoard (like an entire hall linen closet, I’m not proud), you’d think I’d be using all sorts of different makeup everyday, but in reality, I stick to only a few essentials. I don’t wear a lot of makeup in general (but again, still pretty hoardy about it) and I tend to prefer a natural look for everyday wear. I’ve found a select few products that help me achieve this look and here they are:

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, Olio E Sasso Lip Balm, Laura Mercier Eye Pencil, RMS Living Luminizer, Tarte Cheek Stain, Chanel Inimitable Mascara

Before I delve into each product, don’t forget to check out all of my other life essentials here, including the last one I did about the best lotion ever IMO.

And now onto some serious rambling about these products:

laura mercier secret camouflage

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-1 // I’ve had this concealer for years but only learned how to use it properly last September, thanks to a very good makeup artist. That peach color goes over my dark age spots and the lighter color brightens all the shadowed places on my face, like the inside corners of my eye, the cupid’s bow, around the nose, and anywhere else that’s feeling particularly sullen.

olio e sasso

Olio E Sasso Lip Balm in #3 Crimson // This balm only looks dark. In reality, it goes on super sheer, with just a hint of berry to it. The balm itself feels so amazing and keeps my lips hydrated. The little bit of color is just an added bonus. I switch off with this Dior balm all the time.

laura mercier eyeliner

Laura Mercier Longwear Eye Pencil in Slate // I don’t wear a ton of eyeliner, only a smudge on the top, usually on the lash line. But even so, I’ve tried every eyeliner in the book and none stay on my eyes like this one. I never have to worry about it moving or smearing over time. THANK G.

rms illuminizer

RMS Beauty Living Luminizer // This product is a secret of the pros. Multiple makeup artists that I know swear by it. It acts as an illuminator, brightening and making everything look happier and more jolly. I use this on the inside corner of my eyes (along with the Secret Camouflage for an extra juj), a little on my eyelids, in a C-shape from my temple to my upper cheek bone (under the eye), and anywhere else that needs a little brightening on any given day. This is the STUFF man. If I could endorse any candidate on this roster, it would be this one.

tarte cheek stain

Tarte Cheek Stain in Natural Beauty // To go along with my theme of looking as natural as possible, I stick to this cheek blush, which is a sheer berry rose color. It makes your cheeks look just slightly flush, in the most natural way possible. Plus, I tend to prefer a cream blush over a powder for that general dewy look.

chanel mascara

Chanel Inimitable Mascara //  Mascara is the only product that I’m never married to. I love Chanel mascara, but I also equally love the Buxom Lash Mascara. I switch it up all the time depending on what I have in the back stock. I was also using Benefit They’re Real for a long time and while it looks good, it would weigh down my lashes too much. The Chanel is much lighter and more natural looking, but still packs a punch.

TAKE ME TO AN APPLE FARM

apple farm / THE STYLE EATER

Over the weekend, we experienced some honest-to-goodness fall weather, complete with wool sweaters and cooler temps. These things don’t really happen often to an LA gal like me so I took full advantage of it with a day of apple picking. We drove out to Oak Glen and visited Riley’s Apple Farm and Snow-Line Orchard. Fresh mountain air! I’ll tell ya, there’s nothing better.

The apple trees were pretty bare at this time of year, but we still picked a few pounds of pippins, red delicious, rubies, and granny smiths, all of which ended up in a pie I made later that night – JUST CALL ME QUEEN DOMESTIC. We also loaded up on fresh apple cider and apple butter, neither of which were very cheap but yolo. Luckily they turned out super delicious and we’re basically living off of apple cider, apple butter, and apple pie for the rest of the week.

The apple cider donuts at Snow-Line were calling our names as well, but with a line of 50 people deep, we had to sadly pass them up. Just ask Kyle, I legitimately pouted and stomped my feet a little. The power of donuts, I swear. Anyway, a solid fall day on the books for 2014.
