FRIDAY LOVE LIST

Yay for Friday!  I wanted to give you a little sneak peak of what our living room gallery wall is shaping up to be.  It’s definitely not done (yes, that’s brown paper taped to the wall) and we still have a few more prints to hang, but once it’s all finished, I will take real photos of it!  This is just the sneak peak teaser photo!

Anyway, seeing as it’s Friday, Friday, and we got get down on Friday, I thought I would share all the things I’m loving this week:

  • One of my favorite people, Ann-Marie, just relaunched her etsy: Ann-Marie Loves Paper etsy.  It has the CUTEST die cut prints I’ve ever seen.  You must check them out.  I can’t wait to add a few to my collection.
  • This video on My New Roots about how to make nut milk (i.e. almond milk) is driving me wild!  It’s such a simple recipe and I can’t wait to try it.  Plus, the video is super cute.
  • I’m new to the world of Fab.com but holy heck, it’s one of my new favorites.  Just bought this United States print yesterday for my office.  Click here for an invitation.
  • The new fall collection of Alexa Chung for Madewell graces the pages of InStyle‘s September issue.  What a beauty!  Click here to see.  I was hyperventilating the first time I saw.
  • Watermelon pizza?  Yes please.

Lately.

I spend almost the entire day on a computer.  Working, blogging, pinning, tweeting, chatting, browsing, online shopping.  As much as I love all of the above and would gladly partake in said actions everyday, sometimes it’s nice to step away from the computer (for only a few minutes though) and do something different.

So I decided to pick up a hobby.  And that hobby is painting.  I may not be the best painter and would compare my skills to that of a kindergartener, but that’s okay because I’m loving every second of it.  My mind wanders and I just paint simple things.  Nothing complex.  Ok painting time is over, back to the comp!

30-Day Photo Challenge: Days 1-7

August 8, 2011

Remember when I said I was doing this photo challenge?  Here are the first 7 days!

Day 1 [self-portrait]: mmmk not the biggest fan of taking photos of m’self but this will have to do!

Day 2 [what i wore]: wearing a Madewell tank and vintage skirt…and looking out of a closed window?

Day 3 [clouds]: ok so I cheated this day because there were no clouds around on day 3!  I had to use some old clouds…and obvs I already had clouds instagramed.

Day 4 [favorite color]: my fave color changes all the time but right now it’s definitely mustard yellow – i just love that creamy hue of yellow. and yes, yes that is a mockingjay pin I’m wearing.

Day 5 [someone i love]: this is someone I love doing something he loves – going to art galleries and looking at (aka appraising) all the unique art pieces.

Day 6 [childhood memory]: the other day I had sno-cones and it reminded me so much of my younger years.  These sno-cones were a little more gourmet than what I remember.  Each of those bottles are filled with flavors like watermelon/rosemary and blackberry/ginger – was so delicious!

Day 7 [something new]: I discovered an art supplies store a few blocks from my apartment and bought a canvas and a few paints.  Seeing as I’ve never painted a canvas before in my life, this is definitely very new!  TBD what my painting will turn out to be but I’m thinking (aka hoping) something like this.

Here are just a few things I’m loving lately:

Pouring this blueberry syrup (via designlovefest) in and on everything, especially tea and ice cream.

Having 2 reunions in one weekend: the first, with these guys;
the second, with Danielle, (used to work together and I miss those days) who ALWAYS makes me laugh so hard & forces me to revisit the deepest recesses of my memory by playing music like “What Would You Do” by City High.

9to5Chic blog – that girl knows how to work an outfit, literally.  So chic & effortless.

Searching for the perfect vintage electric fan on Etsy.

These adorable picnic printables on Eat Drink Chic.  Now I want to have a picnic immediately if not sooner.

Kinfolk Magazine – so eclectic and visually inspiring.

The fact that I have a planned hula-hoop contest today.  Winner TBD.

First of all…
405 freeway

That is one empty freeway!  Speaking of empty freeways,
LA was a complete ghost town this weekend.
We got to Renegade in 10 minutes from West LA (unheard of)
and also ventured over to Silverlake for the rest of the afternoon
(more on that later).
So “Carmageddon” turned out to be quite nice.  No traffic anywhere!

renegade craft fair

Renegade Craft Fair was amazing once again.  If you ever get the chance to go
in one of your cities, I highly recommend!
Beautiful handmade and vintage jewelry,
letterpress, stationary, custom-made stamps,
washi tape galore, baker’s twine,
art art and more art,
handmade soaps and candles,
basically anything and everything you could ever want.

I didn’t take that many photos because I’m a really good blogger
and forgot my camera.
Oh, and I spent all o’ my time spending cash too.
What did I buy, you ask?
Several bracelets and rings, a handful of cards and stationary, a “hello” stamp,
another washi masking tape, a craft magazine called Uppercase, and piece of wood art.
Renegade has so many great things to offer and I was happy to support!
But here are a few instagrams from the day:
