HANGING PRINTS + THANKSGIVING

dining update / the style eater

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! I spent mine with my family and loved every second of it. Don’t even get me started on sweet potatoes. My mom makes 10 lbs of sweet potatoes every Thanksgiving and I cry for days when the leftovers are gone. All in all, it was a great day. Plus, 4-day weekend!!

Also, here’s a little peek at our updated dining area (sorry for the crappy iphone pic, yikes). We got rid of the giant wood table and replaced it with a much smaller, white one. I’ll post more details when it’s a bit more presentable, but just wanted to share Kyle’s “I-CAN’T-FIGURE-OUT-WHERE-TO-HANG-THIS-SHIT” face. We ordered this print for above our bed, but when it finally came in the mail, we chickened out and decided that the risk of death-by-falling-art is not something we want to subject ourselves to (you know, California earthquakes and such). Anyway, it’s a photo I took from our trip to Big Sur and it is HUGE. No idea where to put it now, but it might just land above the dining table.

So there’s that. December is here and I’m feeling really positive about it so far.

Before Ann-Marie’s wedding, we celebrated her bachelorette party with a weekend getaway to Lake Arrowhead. Two full days with my favorite people?! Sign me up for that every weekend, please.

We stayed in a cozy cabin, drank moscow mules, explored around the lake, took endless amounts of photos, and did a whole lot of chilling out. There was some killer guacamole involved (thanks Jamie) and there may or may not have been some inappropriate convos (a must at a bachelorette, though, right?). I love these people and I’m so glad we got to whisk Ann-Marie away for a weekend of relaxing.

photos of me by Jaymee.

plus, see her post on Arrowhead here!

andddd, wearing my favorite pendleton hat, coach bag, rag&bone jeans (best jeans ever created IMO), and old h&m leather jacket.

also, since we’re on the subject: my last lake arrowhead post here.

Over the weekend, I went to the Long Beach Antique Market with Jaymee and talk about a total brain explosion (enter my favorite GIF here). We both majorly scored and barely spent any coin (I spent $60 for everything in the pic above) – what more could you ask for in a flea excursion? I think it was Jaymee’s good thrifting vibes that helped. THAT and the fact that we’re both bad influences on one another and say YES BUY THAT whenever we spot something fantastic. She practically made me regret my whole existence if I didn’t buy that basket (and even haggled it down a couple bucks for me).

It might have been a combination of being so used to the overpriced Rose Bowl flea (and going in haggling wars with Natalie Portman, I’ve seen it happen), the $80 kilim pillow prices on Etsy (mine above was $18), and walking through my favorite Heath Ceramics one too many times and starting to think $38/mug was normal (give me everything from there, though), that made the Long Beach flea such a breath of fresh air and quite frankly, a shock to my system. I mean BLOW MY MIND WHY DON’T YOU.

Also, this uo sweater. Wearing her everyday.

ANN-MARIE'S WEDDING / THE STYLE EATER

One of my best friends got married recently and I was lucky enough to be a part of her special day. I’ve known Ann-Marie and her now-husband, John, FOREVER and they are just the most amazing. They’re the kind of people you want to keep around for a long, long time. So funny, grounded, smart, witty, and the all-around best at inside jokes (the number of inside jokes i have with Ann-Marie is like 500 million, #aypapi). I swear, those two! I didn’t take a whole lot of pictures on account of the fact I was having such a good time, but goodness it was so lovely and beautiful. Congrats you two lovebirds!

BIG SUR / THE STYLE EATER

I spent the last few days in the magical cliffside town of Big Sur and I’m feeling so refreshed and inspired. I’ll tell you what, I’m addicted to that California coast and that’s a fact. We almost didn’t come back, but normal life beckoned yada yada blah blah. Normal life is the pits sometimes.

Can’t wait to share all of our adventures. So many photos to come. Not gonna lie, my camera’s 32g memory card FILLED UP half way through the trip. If you aren’t familiar with the science of memory cards, that’s like a ginormous amount of storage. The first step is admitting you have a problem.

MORE LATER.
