The first half of March has kept me on my toes and I’m not complaining for a minute. It started with the Oscars on the 2nd and somehow ended with a staycation at Ace Hotel Downtown LA. Lots of work and fun stuff in between, too. Also, a giant earthquake this morning. I’ve lived in CA for 27 years out of my 27 years and EQ’s still scare the living crap out of me. Anyway, more March details:

+ So I went to the Oscars. Call me crazy, but that was one of my life’s most crazy experiences. I saw Meryl Streep and Bono hug it out in the lobby. I had to work a little bit when I was there, but mostly I could just watch and enjoy myself. Once in a lifetime experience, I tell ya. Also, what I wore is on the InStyle tumblr.

+ I went to The Cream one Sunday to scope out a few wedding vendors (because why not) and support Ellay Films, Jaymee’s wedding videography biz that she runs with her awesome sister, Kim. YOU GUYS, if you need a wedding videog, look no further!! They’re the best in the business.

+ I got to hang out with Jaymee and Alex a BUNCH in the first half of March. They are a couple of favorites. EXCEPT WHEN THEY FORCE ME TO GO TO SOUL CYCLE AT 7AM ON A FRIDAY. Other than that, hanging out with them is the best.

+ Kyle and I had a mini staycation at the new Ace Hotel in Downtown LA. It’s 20 minutes from our house, making it the easiest vacation ever. Plus, the 88 degree weather sure helped a lot. A full post on this coming soon.

A SPRING PURGE

KITCHEN TABLE / THE STYLE EATER

They don’t call it “spring cleaning” for nothing, y’all. It’s always this time of year that I crave a blank slate, starting over, and simplifying. I want to empty my closets, clean out the garage, sell all my furniture, eBay all the things. Between Kyle and I, it’s almost crazy how hoardy we’ve become with the random crap we’ve amassed in the past 3 years of living together. I mean, I don’t think I need that ikea bookshelf I got in college. Or those jeans that never fit right, no matter how much I hoped my butt would change shape. Those have got to go. Plus a million other things that have been collecting dust and serve no purpose. Bye, things!

It feels so good to purge everything, right? I have lofty goals of living with much less. Wish me luck. Or give me some advice, perchance? PERCHANCE? And why does Lady Mary get all the hot suitors? What about poor Edith? Anyway, spring cleaning.

I’M GOING TO CUT UP ALL MY JEANS

THE STYLE EATER FAVORITES

I’ve been wanting to cut up a few of my jeans for awhile now but always back out at the last minute. IT’S SO PERMANENT and what if I decide that I don’t want jeans with gaping holes in them in a few months? Ya know, really tough life decisions and such.

But I finally took the plunge (with scissors?) on these Urban Outfitters jeans I found in store and on sale for $19. I cut up the knees and made sure to do it totally blind and without measuring because what good are grungy, holey jeans if they’re perfectly cut? I will keep you updated on how they look after a few washes aka more blog posts on this topic. STAY TUNED.

Also, I’ve been coveting these gals forever and there’s a whole lot of ripped knee inspo on my Pinterest boards, in case you’re keen on this style as well.

Unrelated: HOUSE OF CARDS, wow.

THE HART + THE HUNTER

THE HART + THE HUNTER / THE STYLE EATER

I had heard so many positive things about The Hart + The Hunter (a restaurant inside the Palihotel in West Hollywood), but only visited for the first time last Sunday. Consider me officially hooked on all things H + the H.

It was one of those perfect meals that come around so rarely these days and we enjoyed literally every aspect of it. The smoked trout and avocado toast was ridiculous. Order this if you go. I almost wish we had gotten 2. Then the crab eggs benedict. Stop it right now with all this deliciousness. And just as we figured things couldn’t possibly get any better, out came the biscuits. The only way to describe the biscuits is with my favorite GIF. I mean, total mind explosion. Plus, the honey butter and pimento cheese – all the thumbs up.

But the true underdog amidst all this goodness was the London Fog. It’s an Earl Grey latte at heart but they must put something magic in it because it might be my new favorite drink.

Anyone down for a biscuit date? Count me in.
