friday love list

  • The fact that it’s going to be in the mid-50s and rainy today.  I can’t remember the last time it was this chilly!
  • I ordered this print from Ann-Marie Loves Paper this week and when it arrived in the mail, it was in the CUTEST/CRAFTIEST packaging I’ve ever seen.  Thanks AM!
  • I’m still loving knitting and can’t wait to show you my creations.  I’m half way through 2 different ones (I got bored with the first and started the second…typical) and will show you as soon as they are completed!
  • Loving this Maison Scotch collection from Scotch & Soda (found via because im addicted).  This is what I want to wear for the next 5 months straight.  Plus, it’s a Dutch brand and I’m a little Dutch girl, so I love it even more.
  • Happy weekending!  Enjoy it with something sweet.

Random outfit of the week

I can never decide whether or not I want to post outfits on this here blog.  Most of the time, they’re a little boring and basic.  Oh, what the heck, we’re giving it a shot.

Anyway, this outfit is a perfect representation of what I wear on a daily basis: super simple, non-fussy items that are both comfortable and functional for work.  I added just a slight amount of pizzazz with a vintage necklace and a few bangles.

Old Navy vest, T by Alexander Wang tee, Madewell jeans, Madewell boots, vintage necklace

mindy kaling

I’m not one to be a debbie downer and I don’t like to complain about trivial things.  But let me tell you, the last few days have been kind of rough.  I’ll spare the details but one thing that’s keeping me smiling is Mindy Kaling.  She is the funniest lady, I swear!  So, my dear Mindy Kaling, you are the only thing on my Friday Love List this week.  Here’s why:

  • She has a book coming out (called Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?  And Other Concerns.) that I CAN’T WAIT for – I’ve already preordered.
  • Her blog is a riot.
  • This article she wrote for The New Yorker is not only on-point, but had me in stitches!
  • This one’s kind of obvs, but she’s a writer for and stars in “The Office,” which, in it’s upteenth season, still makes me laugh.
  • Even her tweets are fun.

Thanks for being so great, Mindy!

You know that feeling you get when you realize you’ve eaten far too much food in one sitting but there’s still a few bites left so you might as well finish your plate but, oh my, now I’m feeling sort of faint but oh heck the waiter is bringing out the dessert menu now and “carpe diem” let’s order the peach-huckleberry cobbler because it sounds fun and delicious?  Familiar with that feeling at all?  Well, that perfectly describes my trip to Portland.

Every day we overate, but I wouldn’t change a thing.  It was wonderful in every way possible.  I’m still sorting through all my photos but will post a little photo diary very soon.  A HUGE thanks to the 3 LOVELY ladies who did guest blogs.  LOVE YOU.

Oh and that photo up there?  Had to wear loose clothing to meals…pants wouldn’t button.  You know the deal.  Wearing an Alexa Chung for Madewell dress, J. Crew blouse, J. Crew sweater, Jeffrey Campbell boots, and an Alexa Chung for Madewell clutch (similar here).
