Queen of the Jean

There are many, many things in this world that I don’t know.  For example, I don’t know the difference between the New England Patriots and the New Orleans Saints (besides the fact that Tom Brady is on the Patriots and therefore they deserve to win every game).  I may or may not know all 50 of the state capitols.  The meaning of exegesis?  Not a clue.  The difference between a hedge fund and a mutual fund?  I won’t even pretend to know.

But, my friends, if there is one thing I know a little something about, it’s jeans.  When I hear of a new brand, it’s immediately filed alphabetically in my brain’s rolodex.  Every cut, shape, texture, color, and price point occupy a little too much of my memory space.  Because I’m constantly on the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans, I’ve done enough research to fill a science lab.

If you find yourself judging me right now for being a tad superficial, just look down.  What do you see?  You’re wearing a pair of jeans, aren’t you?  See, they are important.

Anyways, I recently found the most amazing jeans and I wanted to share them with you: Black Orchid jeans.  Oh. My. Goodness.  I found them in a small boutique (called Two of a Few) in Vancouver and it was like discovering a buried treasure.  There was one pair hanging on the rack and….gasp…in my size!  I tried them on and they fit perfectly.  I almost cried.  It’s very rare to find a pair of jeans that literally has your name stitched on the tag.

The best part?  The denim is extremely soft!  I could sleep in them and still be comfortable, that’s the level of softness I’m talking about.  And they don’t stretch out over the course of the day.  BUT, they are stretch jeans.  It’s like they know exactly how much to stretch.

The only bad thing about Black Orchid is that they’re difficult to find.  When I discovered them in Vancouver, I was so afraid I’d never find them again that I purchased them immediately without thinking.  Since then, I’ve found them on a few random online stores, including this one.  As you can see on this website, these are $92.  I paid $160 for mine.  Those darn Canadians ripped me off.
