Liberty of London for Target

March 13, 2010

So I guess I probably should have mentioned this earlier but Liberty of London for Target comes out tomorrow, March 14.  I’ve been counting down for what feels like FOREVER but for some reason, it never occurred to me to post it on the blog.  Well, I’m telling you now…better late than never!

Basically, Liberty of London is known for their AMAZING prints and from what I’ve heard through the grapevine, the fabric quality of their Target diffusion line is supposed to be AMAZING as well.  We will see!!  But, it’s not just clothes!  There will be home decor, kitchenware (MAJORLY LUSTING AFTER THE TEAPOT), umbrellas, and a bicycle.

I’m going to Target at 8 AM tomorrow (which will suck because of daylight savings!) and will update you the minute I get home.  So be sure to check back.  Knowing my past experiences (aka Rodarte), I will find nothing and be upset for 2 straight weeks.

UPDATE: Just returned from Target and oh. my. goodness.  There was Liberty of London all over the damn store.  You would load up on one thing and then BAM a whole other section of Lib of Lon would pop up around the corner.  Really amazing stuff too.  Loved the kitchenware, stationary, and home decor (frames, pillows, bedding).  Clothes were ok/good but the random trinkets scattered about the store were just lovely!  You have outdone yourself Target!  I had 3 gift cards to use but even those could not cover up all the damage I did.  Oops.  Only disappointment: NO TEAPOT.  But I tracked down an employee who said they would be restocking all Liberty within the next few days.  I guess that means I’ll be checking back daily…which could be very dangerous.

Giada For Target

If there’s one thing I love more than eating Italian food, it’s watching Giada De Laurentiis cook Italian food. To say I’m obsessed with Giada would be a gross understatement. Not only have I seen every episode of Everyday Italian and Giada at Home, but I once stood in line for 4+ hours amidst hundreds of stay-at-home moms pushing oversized strollers to have my cookbooks signed by Giada herself. When I reached the front of the line and said my hellos to the Italian goddess, she looked at me with a quizzical look and said “Aren’t you a little young to be here?” Yes even though you, Giada, majorly dissed me and my cooking abilities, I still seem to love you wholeheartedly.

Anyways, to coincide with the release of her newest cookbook Giada at Home, Giada is collaborating with Target to create her own line of cookware, appliances, bakeware, tools, and FOOD! The products look amazing and I cannot wait for them to hit Targets in the near future (all products have different release dates).

Check out the Giada for Target lookbook here. And Giada, if you are reading this, can I be on your show? I know all of your recipes, thanks.

Rodarte for Target, Part Deux

December 20, 2009

Disclaimer: Before you read, know that I love Target wholeheartedly. We’re just not on speaking terms right now.

As you know, Rodarte for Target came out today (was supposed to come out today). I arrived at my Target promptly at 8 AM and not only was it completely picked over but half the line was missing. The second Target I went to had absolutely nothing out yet and had no idea what Rodarte even was.

I should not have been as shocked as I was since it’s happened to me twice before with Target collabs (Rogan and Proenza) but I found myself quite upset. I started frantically calling out to Target employees and 6 out of 7 had no idea what the words “GO” and “International” even meant. I was so perplexed by their perplexity. “Target has a GO International designer every few months?” I kept repeating in a few octaves too high so that it sounded like a question. I was in my own personal hell.

I ended up with a few pieces from the first Target but I’m not totally satisfied quite yet. Where were those amazing tights and that bow belt?!? One employee irritatingly told me that it was only 8:05 AM and they just haven’t put everything out yet. Translation: WE DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU!

I’ll keep you updated as I scour through every Target in Southern California.

Rodarte for Target

In the last few days, new images having been rolling in of the much-anticipated collaboration, Rodarte for Target. But of all the images swirling the interwebs, nothing beats these advertisements I found on the pages of Marie Claire’s January issue. How glorious do these dresses look against a backdrop of wheat fields??

I’ve been patiently waiting for the Rodarte collab since it was first announced many moons ago and now that the collection is finally upon us (comes out December 20), I’m literally about to burst at the seams with excitement! Oh you know I will be that girl standing in front of Target at 6 AM on Dec 20!

The collection is comprised of slip dresses, lace cardigans, lace camisoles, tulle skirts, bow belts, shrugs, and much more. Very whimsical pieces, yet VERY Rodarte! I love when a designer collab with Target truly reflects the designer’s actual designs. Make sense? Basically Rodarte for Target looks very Rodarte! So bravo to Kate and Laura Mulleavy (founders/designers of Rodarte) for making an amazing collection at such affordable price points.

All I have to say is: I call dibs on the black slip dress (second image).
